Headstock: also known as headstock, its main task is to pass the rotary motion transmitted by the main motor through a series of speed change mechanisms to make the spindle obtain the required different speeds of positive and negative steering. At the same time, the headstock divides part of the power to transmit the motion to the feed box. The spindle in the headstock is the key part of the lathe. The stability of the spindle running on the bearing directly affects the machining quality of the workpiece. Once the rotation accuracy of the spindle is reduced, the use value of the machine tool will be reduced.


Feed box: also known as tool walking box. The feed box is equipped with a speed change mechanism for feed movement. By adjusting its speed change mechanism, the required feed amount or pitch can be obtained, and the movement can be transmitted to the tool holder through light screw or lead screw for cutting.


Lead screw and smooth screw: it is used to connect the feed box and the chute box, and transmit the movement and power of the feed box to the chute box to make the chute box obtain longitudinal linear movement. The lead screw is specially set for turning various threads. When turning other surfaces of the workpiece, only the smooth screw is used instead of the lead screw. Students should distinguish the difference between light screw and lead screw according to the content of chute box.


Slide box: it is a control box for the feed movement of the lathe. It is equipped with a mechanism to change the rotary movement of the light screw and the lead screw into the linear movement of the tool holder. The longitudinal feed movement, transverse feed movement and rapid movement of the tool holder are realized through the light screw transmission, and the tool holder is driven to make the longitudinal linear movement through the lead screw, so as to turn the thread.


Tool rest: it is composed of two layers of sliding plates (medium and small sliding plates), bed saddle and tool rest body. It is used to install the turning tool and move longitudinally, transversely or obliquely with the motor car tool.


Tailstock: it is installed on the guide rail of the bed and moves longitudinally along the guide rail to adjust its working position. The tailstock is mainly used to install the rear center to support longer workpieces. It can also install drills, reamers, etc. for hole processing.


Bed: it is a large basic part of the lathe with high precision guide rails (mountain guide and flat guide). It is used to support and connect all parts of the lathe and ensure that all parts have accurate relative positions during operation.


Cooling device: the cooling device mainly sprays the cutting fluid in the water tank into the cutting area after pressurization through the cooling water pump, so as to reduce the cutting temperature, wash away the chips and lubricate the machined surface, so as to improve the service life of the tool and the surface machining quality of the workpiece.
